A secret.

Before you continue to read you must promise the following:
1.  To pray
2.  To not tell a soul
3.  To pray

If that is something you are willing to do, then, by all means, continue :)

Well- On Friday January 2nd Kevin and I found out through a HPT that we are pregnant!  We were so excited and scared that we did not tell a soul.  We wanted the Dr. to confirm through a blood test.  On Monday Jan. 5th I went for my first round of blood work to test the HCG levels.  We were praying for more that 19, somewhere around 300 would be terrific.  God delivered and my HCG levels were about 1,186!!  Dang, thank you Jesus!  That is all well and fabulous, but the real kicker is the second blood test.  On Wednesday we went for our second round.  The goal was for the number to double!  It did!!!  Praise God.  It was 2,423!!  It more than doubled!  Well, with the elevated levels we were totally bracing ourselves for twins or triplets...b/c remember with any medicated cycle there is always a risk/blessing for multiples.  Next, we had to wait until Jan. 19th (yesterday), to have our first ultra-sound for vitality.  Sooo...I was very scared/nervous/anxious.  As Kevin says "once bitten, twice shy".  The first ultra with the first pregnancy we learned that I had an enlarged yolk-sac and had two of them, plus the fetus measured small.  BUT THIS TIME....we got a fabulous report.  Thank you Jesus.  Nothing was reminiscent about this from our first pregnancy!!!  One baby!!!  One yolk sac!!!  One heartbeat!!!  All normal!!!  My fetus measured one day bigger than he/she is.  The heartbeat is 125 bpm (normal is 120-190)...and I am feeling good (not great)!!  Praise Jesus.  I am so thankful.  I have a very grateful heart, but know that we are not out of the woods.  I do not think that I will be feeling confident until after my first trimester. Sooo prayer is key.  I need your prayers and support so much :)  We told our parents and sibling last night.  But we are not telling aunts and uncles and friends until we are out of the woods....so the cat will be out of the bag end of March.  Pray that day comes and that I deliver to term with a happy healthy little one.  Right now we are "managing our expectations".

Thank you for you.  Much love and blessings to you always,
karie

Soooooooo Over Waiting.

I just want to let everyone know that this is a very long two weeks.  And I still have 7 days to go! Soooo, in seven days we get to find out if we are pregnant....then I get to wait 3 months to tell everyone....then I have to wait 9 months to meet the kid (if all goes well).  That is a lot of waiting, and I am sooooooooo over waiting.

It is Thursday night and I have almost made it through the week.  That is a lot to say because as a teacher, the week before any vacation is a doosey!  But no fears!
Let me catch you up since the last blog.  I ended the Femara on Saturday night.  For some reason I got terrible headaches from it, do not know if it was that or the kids, but I am going to assume it was the Femara (my students are fabulous).  On Wednesday morning (6:30 am and the dr. office is an hour away from home!!!) I had another ultra-sound to see how many mature follicules I had.  It also tells us when to take the Ovidrel shot.  Thank Jesus I had my second "good news" ultra-sound :)  I have three mature folliculues (a normal woman has one mature follicule a month, one on the left one month, and then on the right the next month).  I have two on the right ready and one on the left.  I think this is fabulous for I am not opposed, like my husband, for having twins....I just want whatever I can get, and that he/she are happy and healthy :)  Soooo, Wednesday night at 10:15pm I gave myself the Ovidrel shot (yikes....that was something for the books...not fun)...and tomorrow (Friday) I go into the Dr.'s at 10:30am and Kevin goes in at 8:30am...IUI here we come.  This is pretty much the same regiment we went through with the first pregnancy, so we are hoping for a positive result again.  That is where you come in.  Pray.  Please pray.  This is such an expensive, time consuming adventure that we are quick to want it to end.  We would rather spend the money on the kid, not making the kid :)   Again, thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement for they are often times priceless.  Have a very Merry Christmas and wonderfully Happy New Year.  I will update you in the new year!

God Bless You,

Sad News AGAIN!

Since my last blog....forever ago....I had ANOTHER D&C.  Yes, you do not need to re-read that.  I had another one.  For some reason, the first D&C did not get all the products of misconception out.  How did they know, you ask?  My HCG levels never went down to zero.  The lowest it got was 9.  Immediately after the second D&C, it went fast down to 2.9.  That was November 18th.  Then one week later, it was finally at ZERO!    Praise GOD!!!  Then 4 weeks later, last week, I got a real period!  Plus I got the green light to start a medicated cycle.  That means since Tuesday, I have been taking Femara.  This is a breast cancer drug that actually promotes mature follicles.  Then this Thursday, I am going to the Dr. for another ultra-sound (if I a dollar for every ultra-sound I would be rich), and if the follicles look mature I am going to have a shot called Ovidrel.  This makes the egg or eggs erupt from the follicle, and then 24 hours later, I have the IUI.  That is if everything goes according to plan.  That is my prayer request, that everything goes according to plan....this is exactly how I got pregnant last time.  Please pray that 1) I do get pregnant 2) I carry the baby to term and 3) the baby and me are healthy.

Thanks again, and I promise to make the posts more frequent...although, I do not think anyone actually reads them~

Love and Blessings~

Sad News

It has been awhile since I posted last b/c quite frankly I have been depressed.  Since my last post, we lost the baby at 8 weeks, had a D&C, and am still waiting for my body to heal.  I had the D&C on July 18th, and my body still thinks that it is pregnant.  I have not gotten my period, so we can not try to conceive until that happens.  It has been 11 weeks today, and still nothing.  You are suppose to get your period within 4-6 weeks.  Crap.  I have also been going to the doctors every week to check my HCG levels.  We are waiting until they get to 0.  I just want my body to be normal again and to have normal cycles.  Please pray that will happen within the next 5 days.  This is getting to be ridiculous, not to mention very expensive.

Told you!

What a crazy night last night! Lightning struck one of our trees in the backyard!! Crazy! Did not get one wink of sleep and to boot, had to wake up at 5:15 for the next blood test!! Phew! Needless to say after the blood test I went straight home and went to sleep. That two hour nap felt mighty good :)

Due to the storm last night, just my luck, I have no TV. SO waiting for the lab results are painstakingly slow. So out I went to Sams Club and Khols.

At 1:45 got a call and my pregnancy levels are GREAT! They more than doubled from last time :) Yipppeeee!! Praise Jesus. I am yet again OFFICIALLY PREGNANT. For some one who has gotten negative pregnancy tests for the last two years, this is really unbelievable. Thank you God.

July 8th at 8am Kevin and I get to go in for an ultrasound (this time it will be a joyous one) and hear the baby's heart beat. Please pray that I deliver to term. We really need all the prayers and support that we can get!!

Love and Blessings~

The latest...

Hello! Sorry that I have not been blogging every much. I have excuses though! This time of year for a teacher is really busy!! Anyways~ I will catch you up since the last blog:

May 16th got the dreaded period. Not such a good note…but on a better note Kevin and I did go to Carowinds. We had a great time. We got there right as the park opened up and then left a swift 3 hours later. We rode all the rides and had a great time ☺ Don’t I have a great husband ☺

May 19th! I went to the CMC Woman’s Institute Infertility Clinic and they did a vaginal ultrasound (I know too much information) and everything looked great (of course)…and they ran a whole bunch of blood work, which again was normal. Soo..the next set of directions was to take Femera and then come back in on the 26th.

May 26th! Femera was a walk in the park. Just had some minor stomach problems, but honestly that could have been from something I ate. Today was the day that I had another vaginal ultrasound. Results were that they found a minor cyst, but said that it was normal when producing lining of the uterus, and that I should not be alarmed. It was not really that big. I also had one follicle ready and that it was time for the ovradrel. They did mention that it was disappointing that I only had one follicle ready. I should have had more because I was on Femera. But, they said that one was all they needed so the ovradrel was good to go. Ovradel is an HcG shot that makes the mature follicle push out an egg…thus makes me ovulate. This is a self-injected shot. Thank you JESUS and I really do mean thank you JESUS, that I was able to get it at the Dr. office during the visit. If not, Kevin or I would have had to give me the shot in the tummy. Not good. So I was totally overjoyed when the nurse said that she was going to give it to me ☺ Praise Jesus! The shot was not that bad, I took in standing up. Maybe all those acupuncture appointments helped me with my fear of shots. Anyways~ the next set of directions was to come back tomorrow. Kevin at 8:30 for the semen analysis and wash, and me at 10:30 for the IUI.

May 27th! IUI day. Kevin was such a trooper and did what he was supposed to do. His end went fine and now I had to go in at 10:30. Kevin checked out great, they explained the IUI, and then it was time for me to lie down. The whole this was very similar to pap smear, so it really was no biggie…just sad. My journey had lead me to getting pregnant, not by making love, but by a turkey bester…lol…our God for sure had a personality ☺ The nurse told me that I should not take a pregnancies test until day 12-14 after the IUI, because the ovradrel might give it a false positive.

May 27th-June 8th! Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.

June 8th! Day 13 and I took a home pregnancy test. POSITIVE! POSITIVE! I have never in the two years of this got a positive test! PRASIE JESUS! THANK YOU GOD. However, this might be a result of the shot, so we will retest tomorrow ☺

June 9th! POSITIVE POSITIVE POSITIVE!! I cannot wait. I called the doctor and she said to come in tomorrow for the pg blood test…….I am so nervous!

June 10th! Get there at 7 am and they said that they would call before lunch with the results. I was so nervous, I had diarrhea the whole day!! 1:45 she calls (that is soooo NOT lunch time) and it is POSITIVE! I am for sure pregnant and she said that my levels were good. 118. Great. Just got to know what that means! She also gave directions to come in on the 12th for another blood test to be for sure.

AND HERE WE ARE TOMORROW IS JUNE 12TH. WILL BLOG WHEN I GET BACK. I AM NOW ON SUMMER BREAK SO I SHOUD BE MUCH BETTER AT BLOGGING.

Lots of love and blessings and keep the prayers coming! Praise God.
